The art house is a project that was commissioned by two partners who are both heavily involved in the creation and curation of art and the architecture is intended to create a backdrop for this dynamic and program. Conceived as a light and modest formal gesture that creates a simple angled form, the house opens up to the views on the north side with a lot of glass and openness, while creating a more solid form on the driveway side. The materials are intended to create contrast with the shou sugi ban siding and light accoya wood siding and the more monumental long format brick walls and an accent. The house includes two angled light monitors that bring in light to the primary bedroom and dining room and create a dynamic wood slatted ceiling form.
